It’s Time
Time for what you ask? Time for the Holidays? Time for Special Sales? Time for Last Minute Quilt Projects? Time for Family?
BINGO! All of the above, and that includes the free space on your playing card!
Which for me, the free space represents time for myself, as in “I’m retiring!”
Yep, after 20+ years in the quilt industry (and many more home/craft businesses years prior) I am finally giving up bookkeeping for Uncle Sam! And just in time to enjoy the holidays with focused time for my family.
The Quilt Rambler business will close December 15, 2022!
Of course, that means some savings for you, especially if you have been on the fence about any of The Quilt Rambler patterns…time to finish off your collection!
I’ve created an eBay store to handle the bookkeeping/shipping of my print patterns. A few of my designs are limited in number so grab your favorites before the paper copies are gone!
For my international friends, and those who prefer digital downloads (or if your favorite is out of print), my “going out of business sale” prices are reflected at my Payhip store.
Both the eBay store and Payhip digital store will be taken down Friday morning 12/16/22.
This allows me time to close out that bookkeeping job with Uncle Sam (grin).

Why?
Okay, I know you have questions…mainly why?
Well, that’s a very loaded question with multiple answers…for starters I’m just ready to focus on my own quilting – did I mention that I have over 40 projects in boxes (UFO’s) as well as that many or more personal “quilts in waiting” that need to be put on the longarm. I call this my retirement plan – as I plan on doing a lot of quilting for years to come! Time to use that stash I’ve been building for 20+ years!
Of course, the biggest reason is family. With two granddaughters, ages 4 and almost 1, it’s time to be flexible and available, not having to worry about deadlines or travel keeping me from spontaneous laughter and joy.

I want to thank you for being a part of my quilting journey! So many fun memories, from longarm quilting for hire; creating custom T-shirt quilts for customers; several years as the Texas Dealer for A-1 Quilting Machines where I trained longarm quilters and hosted national longarm teachers in my studio; teaching workshops in my studio for both longarm and quilting classes, as well as teaching at many local quilt shops and cruises – these were the early Quilts ‘N Kaboodle days!
Then later, rebranding as The Quilt Rambler, becoming an Island Batik Ambassador and Island Batik Designer (including the opportunity to design patterns for four signature collections); naturally included are my years traveling and teaching in both my studio, guilds and quilt shops from Arizona to Florida and even the Caribbean (on my last cruise) as a Certified Instructor with Deb Tucker’s Studio 180 Design – even hosting my own Land Locked Quilting Cruise events! What fabulous memories!
There are a few other highlights not mentioned in this ramble, but I’m trying to keep it short (grin). It’s not about what I’ve accomplished but who has shared the journey with me!
Bottom line, I’ve been blessed, and it’s been a fun ride! So many precious people have come into my life because of being a quilter, and I want to say thank you.

There will still be the Facebook Group Tucker Time where quilters all over the world connect to share their love of quilting using Deb Tucker’s tools. I hope to continue to share personal projects & stories here on the blog…
By the way, even without the formal business credentials, I will always be The Quilt Rambler – as described years ago (2008) when I posted my very first blog post .

So that about wraps it up. It’s time for the holidays, time for special going out of business sales, time for all of us to make those last-minute quilt projects for gift giving, time for family, and time for The Quilt Rambler to retire!

Thank you Roseanne – it has been a long decision making process – but when I look at those girls and how they make me laugh and enjoy life – well, there’s no turning back!
Donna and I took so many classes and learned so may things from you over the years. I remember our first class at a church in Sante Fe where you took us to Quakertown Quilts and JoAnn’s showing us how to chose fabrics, and how to make a log cabin block. Then Emma’s Follies, Square in a Square, and so many others classes. Quilt retreats were so much fun and always lots of laughs, meeting other quilters and sharing stories and making new friendsships. Catering for you allowed me to meet so many talented instructors. So I would like to say Thanks for all the memories and fun times we shared over the years. Happy retirement Karen, enjoy those grandchildren, they grow up so fast.
