What’s a Land Locked Quilting Cruise™? Glad you asked! If you haven’t read the blog post about the “maiden voyage” on Valentine’s Day check out the photos and information here.
Land Locked Quilting Cruise™
I dearly love to cruise, and I dearly love teaching. It’s exciting when the two are combined! However, it has come to my attention that many people just don’t like the idea of a cruise. Perhaps they don’t want to be on a ship out in the middle of the ocean, perhaps they’d rather sleep in their own bed! AH HA!
A Land Locked Quilting Cruise™ is a “sleep in your own bed” (or prearranged area hotel) sort of retreat with all the color and excitement of a quilting cruise minus the rocking of the ship!
3 Days of Uninterrupted Sewing!
Land Locked Quilting Cruise™ will offer the land lover 3 days of classroom instruction with me, Karen Overton, Certified Instructor with Deb Tucker’s Studio 180 Design. Dates and projects are now listed along with a registration form – click here.
Class size will be limited to 6 students. Each student will have their own quilting station complete with a Janome sewing machine, all sewing notions, excellent lighting and the use of ALL the Studio 180 Design tools. Ample space for cutting and ironing stations are provided. Yep! All necessary supplies are included except fabric and patterns!
Here’s a sneak peak of the facilities filmed prior to the Open Studio April 15, 2019
Each day will offer the feel and excitement of traveling to the islands through the classroom decor and catered luncheons without having to “get on or off the vessel.”
A class supply list will be given prior to the Land Locked Quilting Cruise™, with the opportunity to preorder fabric kits where applicable. Details will be in the registration packets specific to the cruise course chosen!
Cruisers may choose to add a day prior to the workshop for a self-guided “excursion” to our area quilts shops: Cactus Quilts in Texas City, Painted Pony and Quilts in LaPorte, Pinwheels and Posies in Dickinson, and our area’s newest quilt shop, TEO’s Treasures also in Dickinson – plus a recommended lunch stop at the area’s finest, Dickinson BBQ where the traveler can have a real taste of good ole Texas BBQ. There are many many many fine quilt shops in the Houston Galveston area to turn this into a Texas-size shop hop! Need directions? Or hotel recommendations? Just ask at registration.
2019 Dates and Projects
The Land Locked Quilting Cruise™ dates and projects for the 2019 season are listed here.
Workshops will be conducted Thursday through Saturday from 9 to 4 each day. A detailed agenda will be provided two weeks prior to launching to allow the cruisers ample time to gather their fabrics and do a little precutting. Each cruise will focus on various Studio 180 Design tools using patterns created by either Deb Tucker or Certified Instructors.
