I’m tickled as punch to announce another new pattern release for my first Signature Collection, Vincent’s Garden, by Kathy Engle of Island Batik for The Quilt Rambler. Introducing Never Alone!
If you are like me, there’s a story behind every quilt we make. Sometimes it’s the memory of picking out the fabric for a new project or gathering remnants from a previous project to make a scrappy quilt. Some of our creations are centered on an upcoming event such as the birth of a new baby, a graduation or wedding gift, or sometimes just because we need to create!
As a pattern designer working within a specific fabric collection sometimes my story is simply to create a new design or explore a new use of one of my favorite quilting tools. Regardless, I’m all about show and tell – have been all my life. It’s those ta-da moments in life when it’s time to share the joy!
This quilt is no exception. There are memories forever associated with my ta-da moment of sharing with my friends. Let me set the stage ….
It was the first week of the national lock-down for the global pandemic March 2020. Our church quickly migrated to online services with the hashtag #loveyourneighbor as our encouragement that we could make it through by putting others before ourselves. Ironically, my neighbors were actually members of my church and to encourage each other we had a few “yard visits” – meaning I’d see them sitting on their front porch and I’d walk over to their yard to visit from the street to make sure they were doing okay in the strange situation we all found ourselves in. This was during the time that I was completing my three quilts to ship to Island Batik for photography and inclusion in the Fall 2020 catalog…
