It’s a Snowball Fight!

That sounds funny coming from a gal on the Texas Gulf Coast! Switch your thinkin’ honey, turn that channel in your brain from freezing cold temperatures to the warmth of your quilting room! Snowball as in the traditional snowball quilting block!

A group of designers had a brain freeze, er, brain storm! Namely my friend Tammy Silvers…she started it!

The idea is for each of us to work with this humble block and post about our progress each Monday for the month of February.

This is an instagram challenge, which means to see everyone’s participating photos you will need to follow along on that social media platform.

However, I will be posting my participation photos here on my blog…and I hope you will join the snowball fight!

Week 1 is fabric pull. It should be of no surprise that I’m going to be working with the beautiful fabrics from Vincent’s Garden, my very first Signature Collection by Kathy Engle of Island Batik.

The designer challenge guidelines are to design a project using the traditional snowball block – a solid center with four triangle corners. It’s going to be a lot of fun seeing what everyone comes up with – especially today with the fabric pull!

I’ve got a design in mind using the precuts from Vincent’s Garden collection, and naturally I am snowballing my corners with the Corner Pop tool. Next week I can give you a sneak peek of my project…

Want to play along? There’s a “loop” going on with Instagram that leads to a giveaway at the end of the week…it’s on Instagram only so you will need to check in there – you can start with my link.

Have fun !
