Deja vu – Hurricane Season 2020

As if the pandemic interruptions weren’t enough, right? Now we are in the midst of hurricane season here on the Texas Gulf Coast. Such is life – this happens every year between June 1st and November 30th, so it’s really no surprise.

Just thought I’d share a quick note as we await Hurricane Laura….seems she should be headed a little east of us, which for us is “good” to be on the “dryer side” of the storm. Either way, folks are going to be effected in a large area on the gulf coast – they already are with either storm preps to hunker down or the mad dash of “get out of Dodge” with both voluntary and mandatory evacuations. I’m in an area of voluntary, we are “hunkering down”.

This was taken on Galveston Bay at 0830 this morning – 8.26.2020 – we are 1/4 mile from the bay. Can you see our “natural cliff” – we happen to be about 15 feet above sea level so that is good when it comes to storm surges!

Many have sent well wishes and promises of continued prayers – much appreciated that’s for sure! As believers in Jesus Christ, we know that He has promised to never leave us. Sometimes He calms the storm, other times He calms His children. We are asking for prayers that we continue to look to Him for our calm. Protection too of course!

This may seem a little out of the ordinary, but I’d like to ask if you would help me out a bit. As many of you have experienced so many interruptions to your daily lives due to the pandemic I’m sure you may be like me – it’s affected my business. To offset not being able to travel and have pop-up shops to market my patterns and tools we went “online” with an Etsy store…and now, with the uncertainty of this storm, and knowing shipping is out of the question for a bit, I’m asking my quilting friends to help me spread the word of my online PDF pattern download location with PayHip.

Would you be kind enough to click on my Payhip store and share the link with your friends across social media? I love creating companion patterns for the Studio 180 Design tools and techniques and would really like to get the word out that these patterns are available – even in the middle of a pandemic and hurricane! PDF downloads are instant, you just print them out, gather your tools and fabric and start creating!

As blog followers I appreciate your continued support for my rambles, patterns, and just being a good quilting buddy in general. It’s a joy and pleasure to hear back from you, to meet you at an event, and to know that there’s an audience for this rambler (grin).

Storms come, storms go…family and friends are what matters the most! Forever friends are the best!

This is Karen Overton, The Quilt Rambler, hunkered down and eager to be on the “other side” of this event – got lots of quilting to do! Catch ya’ later!

Will put a link out to my readers today, Karen! Stay safe! I wrote a song many years ago entitled “Shelter in Time of Storm” and He definitely IS. Prayers for all in the path of Laura.
