Breaking News

Happy Fall y’all! Yep, I’m a little late to the party. It’s been a long journey these past few months….in case you missed the memo, we’ve been in shut down mode during reconstruction after a June flash flood that resulted in 2 feet of drywall being replaced throughout our home and The Quilt Rambler Studio…What a mess!

I wish I could say I spent that time in sewing therapy, but alas, my sewing machine didn’t see any use all summer until it was uncovered last week to make baby burp towels in time to host a virtual zoom baby shower for granddaughter #2 due in about 5 to 6 weeks.

Not exactly the summer of my dreams, but the time was not wasted. Even in the mess of living among construction there was joy and laughter as our granddaughter Reagan had “play dates with Oma” two or three times a week while her parents worked. It’s amazing how little people adapt more to a mess than grownups. We had our “own little corner” with a few toys and lots of time well spent under the tiki hut or in the sandbox, as I said, lots of giggles and fun.

So now we are about 2 weeks out since our contractor turned things back over to us to begin resettling. Trust me, it’s a work in progress. First priority was to get my office back so I could begin “design time” working ahead on EQ (Electric Quilt software) with ideas for my 4th Signature Collection designed for The Quilt Rambler by Kathy Engle of Island Batik for Spring/Summer 2022. WHAT!!!??!!

What happened to Signature Collections 2 & 3 you say? Here’s a recap…

Signature Collection #1, Fall/Winter 2020 is a wrap. That’s Vincent’s Garden, with my patterns Lights Shine Bright, Split My Gaggle and Never Alone.

Signature Collection #2, Spring/Summer 2021 was introduced to shop owners earlier this spring with the spring collections already shipping to shops, and the summer collections starting to ship this next month (mine is this season). Watch for upcoming news and the big reveal when the collection ships.

Signature Collection #3, Fall/Winter 2021, would have been introduced this past weekend had there been a Fall Quilt Market. Sigh. This collection got caught up in the shipping woes as normally I would have received the sampling in January to make quilts for the catalog…but alas, they arrived the day we were expecting Hurricane Nicholas in September (no flooding on this round!). Such is life…these delays won’t affect the fabric release in spring so stay tuned for the three new quilts I designed to support this collection.

That leads me up to Signature Collection #4, Spring/Summer 2021. Yep, it sounds crazy but I just submitted new quilt designs to support this collection – the samplings are expected to arrive this next month so I will once again be in the “secret sewing” mode.

In the meantime….anyone going to the International Quilt Festival this next week? Or are you #missingfestival again this year? Either way, I’ve got an exciting announcement!

My good friend Sarah Yuhr of Sew Much Charm has come up with a great idea! A Facebook Live event that will feature several shops (including yours truly) with a online shop hop. Here’s a video I did to announce the news.

Visit my Facebook Page under the event tab to view…as well as I will be posting the schedule daily here on the blog and across social media.

Most of the shops will have coupons that will be good throughout the event for those who will be watching the recorded versions – Afterall, if you ARE going to Festival then you can shop with us “after hours”.  It’s going to be fun!

This is Karen Overton, The Quilt Rambler ~ eager to be back to work!

Hi Karen! I thought I was seeing things when I saw your post today. You have really had more than your share but there is always a silver lining. Time with Reagan!! That is truly priceless and something that cannot be purchased. And a sibling joining the fray – how absolutely delightful. Our littlest little is just 8-months-old tomorrow and he is such a joy. Our four littles have made such an impact in my life and made me such a better person. Blessing to you and your and enjoy that newly restored studio. {{Hugs}} a bunch for you and prayers for no more huge rain storms!! ~smile~ Roseanne
