Quilt Story Saturday – Welcome Back

Little Lion Judah visits Pinwheels and Posies

Little Lion Judah has discovered the joy of celebrating National Quilting Day! What better way to kick off the weekend than to attend the grand re-opening of our local quilt shop, Pinwheels and Posies, in Dickinson Texas, fondly known as “Peggy’s”.

They’re back!

Exactly 202 days since the devastation of Hurricane Harvey there was a huge party with the theme “We’re Back!”

Shopping with friends is sew much fun!

Pinwheels and Posies Quilt Shop Is Open For  Business!

And what a celebration it was! It was the same yet different. Most reassuring was that the flavor of the shop was familiar – beautiful quilts on the wall, fabulous kits, nice notions. What’s different is the layout and enlargement of the facilities. Due to the hurricane, the “neighbor” next door did not return, and Peggy was able to take in that space.

One of my favorite designers – By Annie – bags, hardware, mesh, and zippers for fun projects

Love the colorful notions

My other favorite notion wall – can’t go wrong with tools from Studio 180 Design

Fabric Shopping Is Best Done With Friends!

Most reassuring were the familiar faces and the welcoming smiles of both staff and customers. No one minded standing in line as we were all just excited to be there.

Take a number and stand in line – or have someone hold your place in line so you can continue shopping!

Black & white fabrics will make a stunning quilt…oh look…I think I need that blue fabric!

I enjoyed shopping with my daughter in law Katie to pick out some black & white fabrics for her special quilt. While in line with my friend Jane I decided that I really liked a couple of her choices, so I just had to shop from her pile!

Of course, I will make Katie a quilt – sew glad she came shopping with me and picked out the fabrics she wanted

Yep, I went home with focus fabrics for a new bedroom quilt and possibly curtains once my home and studio can have its own grand re-opening after my Harvey reconstruction.

“Flutter By” fabric by Hoffman will make a beautiful quilt for my future bedroom makeover

The grand reopening celebrations are continuing today and Sunday then it’s back to business as usual. What a wonderful thought  – that of a new normality!

This is Karen Overton, The Quilt Rambler and Little Lion Judah, roaring reporter saying welcome back Peggy and staff at Pinwheels and Posies – we missed you!
