THE Box has arrived!

Indeed, it has! My first 2018 Island Batik Ambassador box actually arrived Thursday afternoon, 2/8/18, the same day reconstruction began on our post-Harvey flooded home…Friday was a whirlwind of activity, so I planned on filming early Saturday morning before workers arrived…only to be plagued by technical difficulties.

Without future ado – here’s my box opening video – sit back, relax, and Let’s Talk Quilts! Then come back for the photo recap!

No cheating now, watch the video first! There’s a lot of bonus material not on the blog!

Island Batik Ambassador Program:

As mentioned in the unboxing video – Island Batik provides the fabrics to the ambassadors in exchange for participation in their monthly challenges and sharing the quilt results across our social media. Aurifil thread has returned as a sponsor again this year, providing beautiful coordinating threads and Hobbs batting has joined us for 2018 by providing their quality batting to be used in some of our creations.  A big thank you to each of these companies for their generosity!

Thank you to Hobbs Batting and Aurifil Threads for being Product Partners

What’s In The Box?

Twenty-two pounds of inspiration that’s what! Wow! My head has been spinning as I am thinking of all the future projects! It’s going to be a joy to work with these fabrics and a challenge indeed to work through the monthly themes, they look so inviting! My personal challenge will be working around my post-Harvey mess, but what would life be like if there weren’t any challenges! Colorful fabrics certainly help take away the doldrums!

Galentine’s Is Upon Us!

These are the beautiful “Valentine colored” fat quarters I received for my Galentine project. Sometimes life doesn’t go according to plan and my best-laid plans for joining with my Island Quilters Guild to share the fabrics and make items together got rained out… Stay tuned for my Galentine post later today.

Galentine reds and pinks plus fabulous foundations!

Foundation Bundle, Neutral, and Stash Builders

It’s always wonderful to build your “stash”. I love the little stash builder rolls – I used a lot of these last year. The neutral yardage will especially come in handy as a future quilt’s background.  Again, I love having the foundation fabrics to pull from and add to the fabric collections.

Northern Woods:

Pattern Mint Chocolate Chip by The Quilt Rambler made from Island Batik’s Northern Woods Collection

I had the pleasure of working with the Northern Woods Collection in preparation for the 2017 Fall Market Catalog. My pattern Mint Chocolate Chip will be “coming soon.” I look forward to making a companion quilt using these sweet little fabrics.

Northern Woods, Foundation fabrics, stash builders, Aurifil thread are among the goodies in this year’s box from Island Batik

Paisley Dots:

I love precuts! Paisley Dots comes in two colorways, a bright which I used in my pattern Illuminated Journey, and earth tones. What a privilege to have the opportunity to work with the second colorway this year.  Spoiler alert – Illumination Journey will be available for purchase by the end of the month!!

Illuminated Journey by The Quilt Rambler is made using Island Batik’s Paisley Dots Precut 2.5″ strips

Sew Much Fabric!

I am overwhelmed by the generosity of Island Batik and their partners Aurifil and Hobbs in providing this box full of goodies! I look forward to creating wonderful projects in the upcoming monthly challenges.

As mentioned, you will want to bookmark, like and follow all of the Island Batik Ambassadors – links to their blogs are located on a separate post Click Here.

This is Karen Overton, The Quilt Rambler, ready to get this party started! Stay tuned! Let’s Talk Quilts!

Fabulous box of fabric, thread and batting!! What more does a quilter need?? I can’t wait to see what you create this year with this gorgeous fabric!! As a longarm quilter, I’ll be interested to know how you like the Aurifil thread on it. I’m really hooked in to one other thread company that I love working with on my longarm and have been disappointed by other brands in the past. I haven’t tried Aurifil, but since my longarm seems to love all threads, I’m willing to branch out.

I’m curious too – I’ve been pretty faithful to a couple of companies and wanted to try others but when you quilt for hire you go with the proven record! I’m a tad nervous about these first few months as I don’t quilt on a domestic. Really missing my Longarm – wish I could come play on yours ????

Karen, I can hardly wait to see what you create with this box of scrumptious treasures! Thanks for sharing. Have fun. I know you will be doing the happy dance when your studio is completed and you can get your longarm set up again. Hopefully everything will fall perfectly into place and you will be back there very quickly!

Thank you Brenda – I am having Longarm withdraws but trying to spend the time designing and writing patterns. There’s a season for everything. The Island Batik beauties certainly are inspiring!
