A few weeks ago I registered to join the 2018 New Quilt Bloggers Blog Hop as a way to improve my ramblings. I’m excited about this endeavor but have to admit that I feel like I’m a little late to the party.
Learning Something New
While I’m not new to rambling (aka blogging) I am still new to knowing how to best reach an audience and what my audience needs in order to stay engaged as well as how to grow my audience. A rambler needs an audience! So when this opportunity came up I was quick to enroll.
I’m also very new to the platform “Slack” which is how the group is communicating. Add to the fact that I have been traveling for over a week and put the Slack app on “turn off notifications” I am really late to the party! Ah, but I do love a good challenge!
Always Wanting to Improve
I am eager to catch up and be a part of this group of quilt bloggers helping each other. As I know more I will share more – especially excited to find new blogs to follow and I hope you will follow along too.
Tentative Schedule For 2018 New Quilt Bloggers Program
- Early March: Welcome participants via E-mail and get everyone into the Slack group to facilitate and begin the conversations.
- March: Get to know one another through a series of weekly planned prompts through the Slack group.
- March: Optional structured blog critique groups will be conducted.
- April: First half (2 weeks) of a blog hop.
- May: Second half (2 weeks) of a blog hop.
I’m all In
This event is limited to 100 bloggers so I feel very privileged to be a part of the group. I know I will grow as a blogger and learn from the best of them! Stay tuned and as always, if you have a comment please let me know what you are thinking, specify how I can improve as a blogger, a quilter, and a teacher. All comments are read and taken into consideration!
This is Karen Overton, The Quilt Rambler, eager to catch up after being out of town! Stay tuned for that ramble soon!
I always enjoy blogs that teach me a new technique or pattern. I’m inspired by the work other quilters are doing, especially the quilting part!! Enjoy yourself and have a blast with your ramblings!!
Thanks Susan – hope to have more quilting posts as things continue to get back to a new normal!
Hi, I’m also in this group of new Quilt Bloggers. I share many of your goals re outcomes from this Blog Hop. I look forward to getting to know you and your blog a whole lot better
Glad we are on the same journey Velda! I am equally eager to get to know you and watch you meet your goals!
I think sometimes people get hung up in the politics and forget quilters love quilts. A little personal love and connection and occasional tragedy is all about quilts. Mostly just have fun, teach something new, share a new gadget, fabric whatever. I have been trying to get someone to restart Melissa’s giveaway list that she used to have at Missouri Mel. No takers so far. Think about it.
Indeed – quilting wraps up all of life’s experiences in something beautiful! And useful ???? I’m not familiar with Melissa’s giveaway list – why not email me your thoughts and details ????
This is a great group! I did it last year and learned alot and met some good Internet friends. Have fun!
Thanks – I’m excited to be a part of this
I am a fellow 2018 New Quilt Blogger. I participated last year. I learned a lot, but at that time I had only been blogging for a few months. Now that I know more, I have new questions, so I joined for a second year. Loved visiting your site!
Thank you for visiting April – I am eager to learn from others and will look forward to visiting your blog too!
I will certainely try to press the seams open!
I have had issues when trying stars and blocks that end up with several seams in the middle…
When there are several seams joined I have found that pressing open does work best – glad you are going to give it a try!
