What’s a Land Locked Quilting Cruise? Glad you asked!
Land Locked Quilting Cruise
I dearly love to cruise, and I dearly love teaching. It’s exciting when the two are combined! However, it has come to my attention that many people just don’t like the idea of a cruise. Perhaps they don’t want to be on a boat out in the middle of the ocean, perhaps they’d rather sleep in their own bed! AH HA!
A Land Locked Quilting Cruise is a “sleep in your own bed” (or prearranged area hotel) sort of retreat with all the color and excitement of a quilting cruise minus the rocking of the ship!
3 to 4 Day Options
Land Locked Quilting Cruises will offer the land lover 3 days of classroom instruction with me, Karen Overton, Certified Instructor with Deb Tucker’s Studio 180 Design. Classes will vary from learning tool techniques to teaching specific quilt patterns and even a special cruise or two for total beginners who are eager to learn the art of quilting.
Each day will offer the feel and excitement of traveling to the islands through the classroom decor and catered luncheons without having to “get on or off the boat.”
Class size will be limited. Each student will have their own quilting station complete with excellent lighting. Ample space for cutting and ironing stations are provided. Each student will be responsible to bring their own sewing machine and general sewing supplies. A class supply list will be given prior to the Land Locked Quilting Cruise, with the opportunity to preorder supplies, kits, rent tools, etc. Details will be in the registration packets specific to the cruise course chosen!
An optional 4th day will include a guided “excursion” to our area quilts shops: Cactus Quilts in Texas City, Pinwheels and Posies in Dickinson, Painted Pony and Quilts in LaPorte and Bacliff’s newest quilt shop, TEO’s Treasures plus a lunch stop at the area’s finest, Dickinson BBQ where the traveler can have a real taste of good ole Texas BBQ.
Registration and Details
Land Locked Quilting Cruises will run Thursday through Saturday, with the optional excursion to the area quilts shops on Wednesday. Fees will cover class instruction, luncheons, special treats, and hotel shuttle services for our out of town guests. Assistance in booking flights and hotel arrangements will be offered as a courtesy.
