Calgon, Take Me Away!

I get it! With all the, shall we say, “interesting” events going on today don’t you just wish that Calgon could really take you away! Well, let me suggest the next best thing – Sewing from Home Quilt Along with Amy’s Quilt Room!

Yep, my new friend and fellow Studio 180 Design Certified Instructor (class of 2020) Amy Costabile from Uptown PA has a treat in store for you! And I’m sew excited that she’s asked me to come along for the ride!

Amy will be offering a step by step quilt along from the comfort of your own home using The Quilt Rambler pattern – Paradise Island! Not only is this a great quilt to make, if I do say so myself, the virtual “lessons” will be FREE when you register online from Amy’s website. Oh, and did I mention that she will have a special discount code for participants who download the PDF pattern! Yep, yep, yep – how does 40% off sound to you!

I’m going to let Amy tell you all about it – just click on this link to register and get started.

But Wait, There’s More!

You know me, always a tad more to the story…for those that don’t know the back story of the creation of this pattern….

At the time I was designing and making Paradise Island it was May of 2018, and we were displaced from our home due to reconstruction after Hurricane Harvey. I actually sewed the entire quilt under the tiki hut in our backyard to be included in Island Batik’s Fall 2018 catalog. The original quilt was quite scrappy using lots and lots of fabulous French Blue fabric collection. Making this was truly a “Calgon Moment” as the beautiful blue and yellows took me to my own much needed far away tropical paradise….Paradise Island!

Later in the year, prior to Fall Market 2018 I remade the quilt using Deb Tucker’s Signature Line with Island Batik, Twilight Chic – which became the pattern cover. I’ve taught this quilt multiple times and have seen it made up in many beautiful fabrics. For those “Sewing from Home” with Amy please know that you can mix and match fabrics easily to make this design uniquely yours!

I hope you will enjoy this Quilt Along – follow Amy on Facebook too! And while you are there – if you aren’t already a follower of The Quilt Rambler, well you know what to do! Like and follow! Then join Tucker Time with The Quilt Rambler Facebook group and post photos of your progress.

Thanks, Amy, for hosting this! I can’t wait to see your fabric combinations and everyone else’s who joins this journey!

Who needs Calgon! Let Paradise Island take you away!
